Chapter 2, Part 1: Interlude

January 26, 2009

        Timelessness.
Light in my eyes burning into my aching skull broken only by strange faces mouthing unrecognizable sounds while noise roars in my mind blocking all sending. Only to descend into darkness again.
        Light again. Dark … again.
Endless cycles that make no sense when I’m awake, though I feel pricks of pain here and there and drive them out, only to find them back again when next I awaken.
Always I find myself helpless on my back, unable to move though I think I managed once to free an arm before I blacked out again.
What is happening to me?

I am hungry. I feel like I haven’t eaten in days. I can’t take much more of this.
I open my mind to the noise. Strong power here; but no sense of intelligence. I listen deeper, trying to find sense; but nothing. Strangely, the noise becomes bearable though it seems still as strong as the first attack. I open further, doing as I can to seek the will of the Web and beg the aid of the Goddess. Always the noise in my mind, but yet…
… A mind. Strange. Organized and intelligent. But  so different. —Concern? Concern for a… specimen? —Dying. —Stasis? —Yes! Stasis!

        Dark.
