I have mixed reactions to the “Kansas - 2083″ chapters. On one hand, it is interesting to see the greater detail on the past event, an earlier look at Tracker. On the other hand, it doesn’t flow well into the rest of the story, and in the rest this incident was covered to some degree as retrospective comments between characters in the current timeline.
I would either keep the Kansas segment seperate, as a short story presented after the main tale, or would use some of that material to add depth to what was in the other parts retrospective flashbacks.
You might consider making a “case files” appendix, where smaller historical mission tales could be showcased, to highlight individial Defenders.
