It’s been a little over a week since I applied liquid shoe polish to the back bumper of my Vue. It still looks a little ragged, very amateurish, but seems to be evening out somewhat to an overall black color. Note in the first image the bumper’s level of grey compared to the front tire of the Vue. There’s a significant difference between the two.

On the other hand, this image shows the back tire and the bumper are much closer in shade, but the application marks are still visible even after a week of sun and rain.

It looks like this technique could work, but only if you use a broader foam brush that gives you better control of the flow and a broader stroke. Even so, I don’t expect this to last too long since there’s already some visible fading after only one week. To attempt such a modification now would probably require a minimum of two more coats; one to ‘fill in the gaps’ and a second to even it out more. I’m wondering if using a shoe brush or other tool to ‘polish’ the polish would do any good. (I also need to find the bottle again.)
